ConAct

In the middle of our association’s grounds, ConAct@diskoBabel has become a special place: a bright and cosy seminar room made from three converted containers. The project, co-funded by the European Union, was developed and built by committed members of the association to create a lasting space for encounter, exchange and learning together.

Today, ConAct@diskoBabel gives cultural workers, collectives and initiatives the opportunity to realise their projects – from workshops and team and organisational development to discussion and networking formats. The room is used both by members of the association and by external groups, and helps to strengthen sustainable structures within Berlin’s art and culture scene.

Vision

ConAct@diskoBabel is meant to be more than just a seminar room. We want to offer a place where ideas can take root, people can learn from one another and joint projects can emerge. Our aim is to help keep Berlin’s art and culture scene healthy, supportive and alive.

Using the room

Whether as a creative retreat, for focused group work or as an open space for exchange and further training – ConAct@diskoBabel offers a safe setting in which ideas can grow. The room has cosy furnishings, flexible seating and facilitation materials, and is used for a wide range of formats.

Removing barriers

We want to make ConAct@diskoBabel accessible to as many people as possible. The room can be used with a mobile ramp and therefore with step-free access. At the same time, we see accessibility as an ongoing process. People with additional needs are welcome to get in touch with us at any time so that we can look for suitable solutions together.

Our expertise

In addition to providing the room, the members of the association involved bring a wide range of experience in cultural work. This includes awareness work, organising open-air events, process facilitation, team development and systemic counselling for cultural workers and collectives.

ConAct@diskoBabel was realised as part of the European Solidarity Corps and is now available as permanent infrastructure for encounter, development and culture.
