The Jonny Knüppel collective aims to create a place for coming together.
We want to be a network hub for communal culture, a centre for spontaneous innovation in the independent art and culture scene, in order to counter the growing loss and displacement of venues for alternative culture.
Since the collective was founded in January 2015 (back then still at Am Schleusenufer), Jonny Knüppel has been a place of creative self-empowerment and appreciative upcycling, as well as of musical and personal exchange in the spirit of universal humanity. The musical programme reflects the diversity of the collective’s visions: from jam sessions and concerts of every genre to club nights, label parties and exhibitions set to sound.
We recognise art, culture and politics as a directly society-founding connection. That is why we think it is important to offer a space where the most diverse realities of life meet, which invites debate and in which socially relevant issues can be negotiated. In this way we want to counter the increasingly evident division of society. Together we stand for a cosmopolitan attitude that resists discriminatory, undemocratic and totalitarian tendencies.
